Buy a house? Banks bet on credit without leaving the couch

Home-buying credit is accelerating. Month after month, millions, or even billions of euros are handed over by banks to families so that they can buy their own home. There are numerous financing operations, but not all of them are being done over the counter of the banks.

Several banks operating in the national territory are betting on new ways of granting credit, namely for the purchase of housing. Many of them already give their customers the possibility to apply for credit for the house practically without the need to… leave the house, using digital tools.

Bankinter, Novo Banco, Banco CTT, Santander, BCP and Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) are now offering their customers the option of contracting new credit almost exclusively via digital, in a more convenient and simplified way. without having to visit an agency.

Bankinter

Bankinter was the most recent bank to communicate this offer. The habit@ção_digital credit gives customers the possibility of handling the entire process associated with contracting a credit "at a distance", with the customer only needing to be "present on the day of the deed", which can be read on the website internet bank.

To make this possible, the bank designed the Home Loan Portal, where customers can simulate their credit, but not only that. Through this online platform, you can start and follow up on the credit proposal in this way, as well as obtain a pre-analysis. The sending and receiving of documentation is also done “digitally”, as well as the scheduling of the assessment.

Through this platform the Portuguese can also “transfer their Mortgage Loan” from another bank. The contracting of insurance associated with the credit of the house, at a distance, is also possible through this Portal. Access to this platform can be done through “computer, mobile phone or tablet”, informs Bankinter.

Novo Banco

The procedure associated with contracting the Novo Banco Home Loan can also be done almost entirely through digital. The “online process” thus begins with a simulation, through which the customer can understand the best credit option for his specific case.

Based on this simulation, you can also “get an immediate pre-analysis of your credit”, which is valid for a period of 30 days, informs the institution. Through the Novo Banco website, you can also start the credit application, as well as send all the documents necessary for it to go ahead.

Banco CTT

Another institution that offers the possibility of making an “online loan application, convenient, fast and without the need to go to the store” is Banco CTT. On the entity's website, the customer can start by carrying out the simulation, in order to test the “different solutions” for mortgage loans available and to understand which installment would have to be paid.

The order, too, can be made entirely through the website. And if you have already started your credit application online, the system always gives the customer the possibility to recover it. The subsequent monitoring of the entire process can also be done remotely, through the Casa BCTT App.

Through it, the customer can see “the status of their order” and which “activities are pending their intervention”, which can be read on the bank's website. In addition, the application also informs "about the necessary documentation" and about "how to obtain it", also enabling the "upload of missing documents" and direct communication with Banco CTT, in order to obtain more detailed information about the procedure , necessary case.

Santander

If you want to “take care of the process without leaving your home”, Santander also offers this option for its Mortgage Loan offer. As the bank informs you on its website, it is necessary to start with an online simulation, through this same page, “to adjust the loan conditions”.

Afterwards, the client can request, “on the spot, the approval of the credit”, which can also be requested to finance works at home or the construction of new homes. From there, you will be able to send documents, as well as “schedule the assessment and monitor the status of the process without leaving your home”. According to Santander, the entire process is completed “in less than 30 days”.

At the moment, Santander is also running a campaign that gives the possibility of transferring the home loan to this bank, with customers being exempt from paying the transfer costs.

Caixa Geral de Depósitos

Something similar is offered by Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD). If you are looking for a loan to apply for housing purposes, you should start by simulating it online, through the CGD website, in order to know “how much is left to pay”. Afterwards, this simulation must be submitted digitally, as well as all the documentation necessary to formalize the proposal.

Then, “after delivery of the necessary documents”, the bank will contact customers to “schedule” an appraisal of the property. “After receiving the evaluation report and confirming the assumptions of the simulation”, the decision regarding the loan application will finally be “confirmed”.

Finally, if there is a "validation" of this "documentation", CGD will contact the customer in order to request any additional documentation necessary to complete the process and also to "schedule the date and place of the deed", which will have to be in person.

BCP

“Available on the website, on the Millennium App and on the Mobile Web“, as the bank clarifies on its website, the offer of mortgage loans online is also a reality at BCP. The process starts with the simulation, where the client must define the “amount and term” he wants for his loan. Then, you have one of two possibilities: “save the data” of the simulation or, perhaps, “proceed to send it by e-mail”.

In this way, the credit request can be made right away (through the application or the website), which will be analyzed by the bank. The decision will be taken, according to the BCP, within a period of up to 48 hours. Then, just wait for the bank's contact to schedule the property valuation. However, the client can always digitally monitor the status of their proposals, as well as access all saved simulations.
