The public deed for the sale of a property, divorce by mutual consent in which one of the parties is abroad or the drawing up of a power of attorney by a person living on the other side of the world can already be carried out by videoconference, without interested parties are required to be physically present, advances the Jornal de Negócios.
The diploma was approved on July 22 at the Council of Ministers and the aim is for the mechanism to be in place on November 15th. However, the promulgation by the President of the Republic is still lacking.
The measure was announced in May last year, but remained on stand-by. At the time, the idea was to go forward with “an experimental regime”, but according to the Jornal de Negócios, there may have been some doubts on the part of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, which would lead to changes in the diploma. The version now on the table is no longer experimental, but definitive and bases the security of the entire process on the use of an IT platform, created and managed by the Ministry of Justice.
