Properties will have a unique identification number

The properties will have a kind of citizen card under a pilot project that opens the way for the creation of open databases updated in real time on property in Portugal, Público reports this Monday.

According to the newspaper, the Building Identification Number (NIP) will be launched from the second half of the year, being intended in a first stage only for rustic properties, and may later be extended to urban properties.

The NIP comes within the framework of the Balcão Único do Predio (BUPi), a platform created in 2017 that was boosted last year when community funds were made available so that 153 municipalities identified as not having a land registry of rustic properties could finance the installation of BUPi in their territories, indicates the newspaper.
